Shooting
One of the most popular activities in the Cadets is shooting. Although you won't do as much shooting as the ACF/Army CCF, you will still get the chance to handle a variety of weapons, learn how to operate them safely, practice shooting in a variety of firing positions (although mainly the prone position) and get to shoot at both static and moving targets. If you are really lucky, you might have the chance to use a DCCT (Dismounted Close Combat Trainer) at a Station, like RAF Brize Norton. No matter what range you use - whether its a 25m or 1000yard range - you will be supervised by a Staff member. You will only be able to fire a weapon that you have been trained to use and having passed a Weapons Handling Test (WHT).
If you are good enough you can have the chance to shoot at ISCRM (Inter-Service Cadet Rifle Meeting) with the L81 or CISSAM (Cadet Inter-Service Small Arms Meeting) with the L98A2 where you will compete against other squadrons and other services to determine who is the best. The best from each service will represent the service in the Inter-Service final of each meeting. The top 100 cadets out of all services at ISCRM will receive a 'Cadet 100' badge and the top 50 at CISSAM will receive a 'Cadet 50' badge. These are separate badges and you can choose which one you wear on your brassard if you have both
There is also a Schools meeting for the CCF that does both meetings at the same time. The can receive a 'Schools 100' Badge
