About the Royal Air Force
The Royal Air Force was formed on 1st April 1918, just before the end of the First World War. It is the oldest independent air force in the world; that is, its the first air force to be independent of any army or navy control. It was produced as an amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS)
